Welcome to Edinburgh University New Scotland Dance Society! Are you interested in getting to know Scottish dancing? Or do you need a team of experienced dancers for a demonstration at your event? If yes, then this is the right place for you!
Welcome Week 2026 (14-20th September)
We have a range of free taster classes in Ceilidh/Country, Highland and Step dancing, as well as our ever-popular Welcome Ceilidh, coming up in Welcome Week! You can find all the details here.
If you can’t make our taster classes, just come along to a Beginners class during the semester! You can find the schedule here – your first class in each dance style is free!
You can also come chat to us at the Welcome Fair on Wednesday (16th) or see us perform at the Uni Library (Monday 1pm, Tuesday 11:30am, Wednesday 1pm) and at the Welcome Fair on Wednesday from 3-4pm!

Performances
We also take part in lots of performances over the year including the Scottish Universities Scottish Country Dance Festival in November, the Newcastle Festival in February and the Edinburgh University Dance Performance in March. Lots of these are open to beginners so if you are interested come along to our classes.
